Sri Lanka

Sri Lankans have the opportunity to stamp their authority on the world cup and so far (20 overs 116/2 vs Bermuda), they are probably on their way, but nothing spectacular that one would expect from Tharanga and Jayasuriya.

And this is precisely why SL have very little chances of winning the world cup this time.

The only time Lankans won it was when Jayasuriya and the little Kaluwitharna re-wrote the rules of batting of opening batsmen in ODI's.

This time around, there is no Kalu, and Jayasuriya is an old man.
Unless the dynamic duo of fighter Sangakarra and clinical Jayawardhane turn up some magic, it looks like the Golden Lanka will have to wait some longer for their second World Cup.
Update: SL crushed Bermuda as expected. But the better plus for them was Jayawardhane coming back into form.

We should appreciate the fielding of bermuda players. They pulled of stunning catches. Inconsistent bowling was not able to create any pressure.

Yes, I am with you on this - the Bermudians and all the new teams will be the biggest gainers in this world cup - to face international teams on the world's biggest stage is an awesome experience which will definitely teach them many things - and with natural talent (stunning catching as you said) they should be quick the learn.

One wonders whether Rahul Dravid and Greg Chappel are listening one wonders? Year after year, World Cup after World Cup, Coach after Coach - we still say "Our fielding is somewhat of a weakness"...

Amrish,

My biggest disappointment has been Greg. I thought he would bring in the AUstralian habits which make them world champions that they are. But looks like he is as ineffective in changing anything as Wright was.

Its the worst team we've ever sent out to a World Cup... Dravid, Greg need to go... I saw yesterday how bad a captain Rahul is... And i dont know what Greg's doing watching from the dressing room...
