My India-Test-Team

Here is my playing 11 for India's first test against Bangladesh:

1. Wasim Jaffer
2. Dinesh Kartik
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. VVS Laxman
6. Yuvraj Singh
7. MS Dhoni
8. Anil Kumble
9. Ramesh Powar
10. Zaheer Khan
11. Munaf Patel

I am going in with 4 bowlers and want Dravid to be more aggressive as a captain to support his 4 bowlers.

I have not given Dada a place in my playing 11 just yet as the only place he can take up is either Sachin or Dhoni (since we already have Kartik as a keeper and an opener) . But Sachin can bowl his spinners and Dhoni deserves to be in the team in absence of Sehwag.
Don't ask me about Laxman - I think Laxman is a solid test player to have in the team.
The rest pick themselves up.
This is my 11! Let's see what 11 the 'think-tank' picks!

Don't ask me about Laxman - .. You know what I am going to say here. Right ?

The moment I saw your team, my thought was "oh he's going with only 4 bowlers!"
What'll happen when pacers are tired after a few overs. We can't continue with them for long & then burden will come to kumble/Powar. While Kumble is excellent, I have doubts abt Powar's stamina for bowling longer hours. Of course we have sachin and Yuvi who can bowl some fine overs.

Don't you think in a test match we need another person who can also bowl ? I would have placed Ganguly in place of VVS.

Hi Cuckoo - Good analysis - In my opinion, if there is one thing Laxman is good at, it is Test Cricket. And he is not too old to drop him like the way he has been.
Also, about 4 bowlers, what you have written is what I had thought - that Tendlya and Yuvi can take the burden - anyways in tracks like B'desh, seamers are hardly going to be effective and it has to be spinners.

But looks like the selectors dont agree with me and feel that 5 bowlers are required. I still dont get the exclusion of Yuvraj from the team (given his current form) - However, Ganguly has done extremely well on this first day vindicating his inclusion.
