India Team Composition for SL Match

Here is my India team for all-important SL Match:

Sauav Ganguly

Robin Uthappa

Virendrer Sehwag

Sachin Tendulkar

Rahul Dravid

Yuvraj Singh

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Irfan Pathan

Zaheer Khan

Munaf Patel

Anil Kumble

I am giving another chance to Uthappa and to Sehwag.

No more chances to Bhajji and no Agarkar. All they get on my blog is pictures.

And yes, my dear Rahul, if Jayasuriya is on fire, please immediately hand the ball over to Tendulkar. And this is the must-win match, no more defensive stuff , OK? Go for the kill, man!

All the best!!!

Nice team indeed. But Agarkar could be better to handle left handers. Anyway Pathan's batting will be advantage. We should chase.

Hi Abhijit,
I will check your english blog asap.

Before the WC, I felt Agarkar, being an experienced owler in WI, will be the key to India bowling attack - but oviously he has not learnt much from his 'experience', he still bowls a lot of short balls, wide balls and is not going to help when opponents are going to go for the kill.

I think that whatever it is, our batting is stronger than our bowling attack today. That is why we should bat the opponents out of the game. If we chase and lose a wicket or two early, our low-on-confidence team will catapulate like it has done on many occassions.
However, it will depend to a large extent on the morning weather and movement that the pitch offers and of course on who wins the toss! :-)

Hey Abhijit,

9 overs into the game and Agarkar has been bowling beautifully. Looks like I will be the one to eat my words today.

Here's what i would have done (it ignores the game that's already gone by)... India's batting has been the biggest cause for concern, followed by fielding and then bowling... I was more or less sure that India wouldnt be able to chase 225 given the selection and form of our batters (we cant call them batsmen - can we?)... Hence, to give us some chance of winning the game, my team would have been:

Utthapa (only because we dont have another batter on the bench)
Sehwag (only because we dont have another batter on the bench)
Ganguly
Dravid (only because we dont have another batter on the bench)
Sachin (only because we dont have another batter on the bench)
Yuvraj
Dinesh Karthik
Dhoni
Irfan
Munaf
Zaheer

Yes, no spinner... only 3 full time bowlers and 4 part time bowlers... Tough, but where is the bloody bench strenth anyway... Dravid, Chappel and Co havent given me many options... :-(

Amrish: Man,in the hindsight we always get clarity, ain't it? Now that I look back, I feelthat we anyways did not have a team that could win the world cup!
